Beast of the East Showcase Baltimore MD
Beast of the East Showcase- Baltimore MD.
The former Breezy Bishop tournament is always chock full of quality teams and players. The talent level was good, the teams were also, but the matchups left a little to be desired. Not allot of close games, but it did attract most of the East’s top colleges. The event was run at St. Francis Academy, and the Carmelo Anthony Center, they were about 10 minutes apart, and the games were close together, so it was not the easiest tournament to scout. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant, but the facilities, especially the “Melo” center, need to be moved next year.
Here were some of the top performers in the showcase.

Random thoughts and Sudden thoughts.
Lots of talk between the media and colleges coaches surrounded the proposed changes in the summer calendar, the 3 person connecting state rule, and well as moving events off of D-1 facilities. All three were pretty much thought of as examples of the NCAA losing its way. I believe as many people do that there are way more important issues concerning student athletes, than when they play, who they play for, and where they play. Change the summer? Who does it benefit? Moving events off d-1 facilities? Um excuse me, but weren’t the majority built with the help of OUR tax money? The O’Bannon lawsuit., Vacarro lawsuit, and the impending lawsuit by the event operators will make the lawyers plenty of money, and just may loosen up the “Holier than thou” attitude that permeates in some of the folks in Indianapolis. Whatever happened to “IHoops’?
