Dick Lien

Coach Lien joined Blue Star in 2016 after an extensive career in both mens & womens basketball spanning over two decades. He served as an assistant coach & head coach at Colorado State where he helped the Rams from a two win season to finishing third in the West Coast Conference. Lien served as Head Coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay helping them transition from NCAA-II to NCAA-I. Lien helped UW-Green Bay to a Phoenix Invitational Tournament Championship
Richard also served as an assistant men's coach at Minnesota where he helped the Gophers to an NIT runner-up finish and worked with NBA Hall of Famer Kevin McHale. He served as assistant coach for both Houston, where he helped the Cougars win a Southwest Conference title and also was an assistant at Southern Methodist University.
He also coached overseas for the Czech Coal Aldast squad, Strakonice, Czech Republic team which was the women's first Professional League team. Dick has coached the Oberwart Professional Basketball Club in Austria to a U-18 National Championship and Senior National Cup semifinalist. He has also been head Coach for teams in Belgium, Denmark and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2011 Richard was inducted in as a member of the University of Wyoming Hall of Fame. He presently resides in Colorado.
