Griner No Show.....Again PartIII

Postby KennyKallina on Tue May 26, 2009 6:31 pm

I got word from a reliable source that Brittney Griner the 6'8'' dunking (fill in your own adjective here) will not be attending the U19 USA Basketball trails due to some "school concerns". This has become the third (some say fourth) event in a year which she has not attended which she was invited to. What does everyone think about this?

IF she shows up at Baylor (which, is the best place for her with their staff) I would not bet against her finishing out her college career there and I don't mean transfer.

There are quite a few other players who are there and will be attending summer school at their institutions when they are done the trials and between competition. I was not commenting on the WNBA as the chatter about it being here next year in its present status is being hotly debated. I was thinking the last item on the list as the financial opportunities overseas where her family can be with her 24-7 are greater and easier.

This girl could do so much for the game of basketball here in the states. I honestly think she has someone pushing her and not making the right decisions for her. NO high school kid gives up the opportunity to play for the USA or for the McDonald's game for that matter. She is getting some bad advice and if she goes overseas to playy ball, by the time she is ready to come back, there may be nothing to come back to...and that is VERY UNFORTUNATE.

One thing I have noticed is that BG hardly ever is seen smiling.

If you go to a web site with pictures on her
http://www.brittney-griner.com/photos.htm
most of the non action photos she doesnt smile.
There are about 8 non action photos on the site and she barely breaks a smile in two of them.
The signing of her LOI with Baylor she doesnt look happy.
She always has this serious look to her. I thought teenage girls love to smile for the cameras.

Perhaps too much pressure? or maybe too much being made about her height? or maybe she is shy and doesnt want all of the attention?
