Jasmine Dixon Leaves RU

Postby StanfordCardinalFan on Tue Dec 09, 2008 2:39 am

Breaking news tonight out of Piscataway

Where will she go? She hardly played at Rutgers and was a top 15 recruit out of HS. She chose RU over Baylor, Cal, UCLA, Arizona State, among others.

“I don’t think Dixon will be with us,” Stringer said. “You know, it’s just not a good fit. Let’s leave it at that. She’ll be fine, we’ll be fine.”

From what I heard it wasn't pleasant on the RU west coast swing and that there may be others bouncing out later on.

There was rumors saying Nikki Speed would also leave for home in Cali but nothing yet. I have also heard some rumors that Ayana Dunning from LSU might head for home where her fiancee lives. There was also talk about Amber Gray at Tennessee but that has gone down now.

Not to pour gas on the fire but when I was out this weekend watching some high school hoops in New Jersey the discussion was about more people bouncing out of Rutgers and also Marah Strickland at MD is looking for a new home but won't be released to any of the local schools despite playing a ton.

I've heard the same about Marah but the other story is she isn't playing due to a family problem that she has to take care of.

She has always seemed to enjoy herself while playing for the terps. And if I remember correctly, it was her dream school after watching her sister play there when she was younger and then coming in 2 years off the national championship season.

She also came right in and started along with Kristi Toliver, Marissa Coleman, Laura Harper, and Crystal Langhorne. I am still shocked that that group never won a 2nd NC.

If there is anyone who knows why they never won a second natinoal championship then it is me since I followed that group through their high school careers. Two were members of the Philadelphia Belles with Kevin Lynch. The actual why will have to wait for some sort of book or rememberances by me later on. This is just one of so many other items collected since 1969 about women's basketball that have gone unsaid and also unknown. Even today things doing on in women's basketball and girls high school basketball are not being written or talked about since the majority of people don't know or are not close enough to the subject matter. Even the "media" that write about the sport don't tell the truth to the reader. But, some of that tangent will be put into another blog at some point.

Oh yes, I would be remiss if I didn't say that the latest word out of RU is that Speed and Pope will be staying and that the waters are starting to calm up there.

The jasmine Dixon/rutgers situation was not a good one, however sometimes it isn't the players fault. I really believe coach stringer handled this situation in the wrong manner. at this point there is a lot going on at rutgers behind closed doors! the srs and jrs can't wait till its over and the sophs and freshmans want to leave. n.speed and jasmine dixon should of stayed on the west coast, my opinion. these players choose rutgers because of the coach. e.prince should of went to UNC instead of following friends, just imagine that team right now, wow

Hey Mike, can't wait for the whys and wherefors - I have heard a lot too that would make one shiver - I find it hard reading you know the other board - as one writer in particular seems to really have favorites and it can be seen in the stands at the games, I like your unbiased approach to all this and you don't seem to be swayed by some of the characters who think they are tops!

It's been a while since this rumor has been visited but the word on the street coming loud and clear is that there will be an exodus of players after the season ends. This is not my rumor or my story but the constant statement made everytime the Rutgers team comes up. We have less than 8 weeks left before this becomes reality or another false rumor but I am being told bags are being packed and moved to the door.

Hello everyone. I love this site and this is my first post so here it goes. It's really unfortunate about the rumors out of RU but, I think that this is what sometimes happens when alot of good players go to the same school and there's not enough minutes to go around. I think that players and parents should consider the current roster and signings when they are looking at schools. A lot of good players get caught up in wanting to go to the "best" school and don't all the time consider if that school is a good fit for them when they get there. What are some of your opinions?

I think all the Rutgers recruits got all caught up with the whole run to the National Championship in 2007 and then watching C.Viv all over the news dealing with the imus situation.

This is just the start of the end of the season process where all these players (in all D1 levels) start thinking about the happiness and next address. If we see a lot of this occuring at the higher programs then will the junior-year rush to sign be attributed to this change in heart after they get to the school of their choice later on?
